Visual Office Development Update
12/13/99 -- The Buzard Eye Institute has developed and is currently using a paperless ophthalmic patient records and practice management software suite called Visual Office. Several years ago Dr. Kurt Buzard saw that patient records and practice management would soon require computerization to accommodate Medicare and Federal regulations and charting requirements; rather than purchase a system that fell considerably short of his expectations and needs, he decided to design and build his own system. Dr. Buzard and Visual Office co-founder and chief developer Cleve Littlefield then began the over three years of design, testing and redesign that is now Visual Office. Their software's development has been guided by the needs and wants of a thriving ophthalmology practice and its physician. Uniform functionality enabling fast assimilation, the implementation of existing flow techniques and the understanding of what the physician wants and expects in an eye care software package is what makes it different than any other software package. Visual Office is used daily at the Buzard Eye Institute. Appointments are scheduled with Visual Schedule, examinations are entered using Visual Charts, document are scanned and captured with Visual Capture, slit lamp eye pictures are entered into the electronic chart using Visual Slit Lamp, and outcomes analyses with Visual Outcomes allow Dr. Buzard to accurately predict the probable outcomes of surgical procedures with confidence. Visual Office is also being used in other ophthalmology institutions across the nation. With the completion of the Visual Accounts, the billing portion of the Visual Office software system, Visual Office has begun to distribute and this software to select ophthalmology practices that look toward the future, or wish to upgrade to the best available, state-of-the art practice management software on the market. |
